Dr. Marable received advanced fellowship training in Community Oriented Primary Care and served as a United States Department of Health & Human Services Primary Health Care Policy Fellow. She is the Chair of the National Medical Association Medical Administrators section. Her previous contributions to the NMA include representing the NMA at the Department of Health and Human Services Health Care Policy Fellowship program, presenting her perspectives on Health Care Reform at the March, 2009 NMA colloquium, as well as, appointments to the NMA councils on Clinical Practice and Concerns for Women Physicians. Additionally, she chaired the first NMA Tobacco & African Americans Consensus Panel. Dr. Marable is a primary care internist by training, with extensive work experience as a clinician, physician, Executive in Government & managed care, and provides consultant services in public health & preventative health in clinical services, clinical quality improvement, chronic disease management and health care advocacy for disparate populations. She has served as a Primary Care Internal Medicine Physician at the Framingham Medical Associates and the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center in Framingham. Dr. Marable's career accomplishments include becoming the first African American President of the Rhode Island Public Health Association, a multitude of honors and awards for her achievements in health care, and membership on an institute of Medicine Committee that published a book regarding Personal Protective Equipment for Healthcare Workers during an Influenza Pandemic. Dr. Marable is also a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society Committee on Diversity in Medicine and is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society House of Delegates. |

Dr. Sharon Marable graduated from Weslyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, received her Medical degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University School of Public Health.
